Cattaraugus-Little Valley Dual Enrollment Program


Students stay at school while completing the St. Bonaventure University course Computer Science 101.

Cattaraugus-Little Valley High School students can earn three college credits by taking the SBU course CS 101. Beauty & Joy of Computer Science.

The course is taught at the school by high school physics teacher David Doty, with training, materials and problem sets provided by Dr. Anne Foerst, professor of computer science at St. Bonaventure. Dr. Foerst also provides periodic supervision on student assignments.

The course is for students with no prior programming experience and, therefore, open to any student who qualifies for general AP credit.

The cost of the course is $150 per credit-hour, or $450 for the 3-credit course.

Student qualifications

to enroll in  CS 101, a student must:

  • be junior or a senior.
  • have a high school GPA of 85 or higher in a college preparatory program and have junior or senior level standing.
  • be enrolled in a program in which the student has achieved, or is achieving, the normal requirements for admission to a university.
  • submit an application with St. Bonaventure's Office of Admissions to obtain permission to enroll.
  • St. Bonaventure must obtain transcripts one month prior to starting the course.
